CLASS 11 - NEEDLECRAFT - 2011
All entries remain on display until 4 p.m. Sunday
| 1. Doors will close for entries at 12 noon sharp on Friday the first day of the Fair |
| 2. The exhibitor will be allowed only one entry per section |
| 3. Mailed entries should be received two weeks before the Fair opens. Otherwise the entry form must be left at the Fair Office before the exhibitors start placing entries in the Exhibit Hall. If this rule is not adhered to, no prize money can be awarded. The membership fee is not retained from last year's prize money. The current year's membership fee must be paid before placing entries in the hall. |
| 4. Only new and up-to-date work will be judged |
| 5. In the case of no competition, prizes may be withheld if the work is judged to be unworthy Score: Workmanship - 50, Design & Colour - 20, Material - 15, General Appearance - 15. |
| 6. Quilt exhibitors - write on the back of the tag if the quilt has already been a "Best of Show" winner |
Quilt Hints: A few helpful hints to qualify for the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) annual championship quilt competition.(Hand quilted and Machine quilted Competition)
- OAAS Quilt Rules: Entries must be solely made and hand quilted by the exhibitor and exhibited and judged at a local Ontario Association of Agriculture Societies to be elegible for this competition.
- Hand quilted quilts must be a minimum of 324" as measured on the perimeter. The hand quilt winner is eligible to proceed to the District Competition and the first prize winner is eligible to proceed to the Final Championship Competition. From all entries at the February Convention, the Best of the Show will be declared. A $500 Grand Prize will be awarded and the exhibitor will retain ownership of the Quilt. A certificate and ribbon will also be awarded to the winner. A $100 Reserve Grand Prize will be awarded and the exhibitor will retain ownership.
Machine-Quilted Quilt/Wall Hanging to be measured on the perimeter. Total perimeter measurement is to be a minimum of 192" (480cm). Note that the article can be square, rectangular, etc. The machine quilt/wall hanging winner is eligible to proceed to the District Competition. The winner is elegible to proceed to the Final Competition at the Convention. A Grand Champion Prize will be awarded and the exhibitor will retain ownership of the entry. A certificate and ribbon will also be awarded. A Reserve Grand Champion Prize will be awarded and the exhibito will retain ownership of the entry.
REMEMBER: The size of a quilt only counts if you're entering it in the OAAS. Otherwise, any quilt can be made in any bed size.
