Ontario's Fastest Growing Dog SportBe Sure To Attend This Amazing Event!
Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. & Sunday starting at 9:00 a.m.
What's involved at a Dock Dogs event?
It's simple really. You encourage your dog to leap into the pool of water and the dog that leaps the furthest or highest, or goes the fastest wins!
Note: This is a fun day for your own dog. Dock Dogs regrets that it cannot supply dogs.
At all Dog Docking events there is a 40 foot dock with a 40 foot pool. The dock is two feet above the water, this is the standard distance which remains constant for fair judging purposes.
To begin with, the handler throws a toy out over the water to encourage the dog to leap out after it as far as possible. Any toy that floats is acceptable by Dock Dog rules.
There are various methods used by the handlers. The trick is to try out different methods and see which one works best for both dog and handler. Distance is measured manually by two certified judges but at National Events the distance a dog jumps is measured electronically by a computer that freezes the leap frame by frame.
The only rule about this is that in competition each handler gets 90 seconds from when the dog sets a paw on the deck until the dog is in motion into the pool.
It's splashing great fun!!
Be sure to check the schedule of Dock Dog events found on the Home Page under "SCHEDULE OF EVENTS". There are a number of exciting events on both Saturday and Sunday.
