RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Any person, upon payment of $5.00 may become a member of the Wallacetown Agricultural Society. The price of admittance to the annual fall fair is not included with this membership.
  2. All individuals obtaining a membership must be personally registered. No exhibit numbers or prize money will be issued to farm names.
  3. Each exhibitor is responsible for completing their own entry form. Contact the Secretary of the Agricultural Society to learn when entry forms become available.
  4. Completed entry forms should be turned in to the Secretary prior to Sept 15th. Otherwise the entry form must be left at the fair office before the exhibit hall opens. Prizes cannot be issued to an exhibitor without an entry form being properly completed and submitted. Livestock exhibitors should refer to the rules in the Livestock Class.
  5. No prizes can be awarded for Specials without a completed entry form. Tags for Specials will be included.
  6. All exhibits must be in place in the Exhibit Halls by 12 noon of the first day of the fair.
  7. Any entry brought into the exhibit buildings on the Friday of the fair must be picked up along with any prize money by the end of the fair. Prize money for non-livestock entries will be paid out at the fair and NOT mailed.
  8. Judges are requested to report to the fair office at least one hour before the time of judging is to commence.
  9. Specials donated in cash and for which no entry has been made are deemed to be a donation to the fair board.
  10. Any exhibit that will become the property of a donor because of a special donation, must be picked up by the person making the donation at 5 p.m. sharp on Saturday for baked exhibits or at 4 p.m. Sunday for all else.
  11. All stock must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor at the time of entry and all grains, roots, vegetables and seeds (except beans), fruit and dairy products must be the property of the exhibitor, and the exhibit must be of the current growth year.
  12. All prizes in the Livestock Classes will be paid by cheque and will be mailed within two weeks of the completion of the fair. Complete and correct addresses on the registration sheet are necessary in order to receive your cheque.
  13. All cattle, sheep, swine and horses must meet the requirements of the Health and Animal Branch.
  14. All livestock must be exhibited on the fairgrounds the day of the fair, unless directed otherwise by the Board of Directors, to be eligible to receive prizes.
  15. No exhibit or animal can be shown in more than one section except for entries in the Special Class.
  16. Should there be only one exhibitor in a Class or Section, judges can use their own discretion as to making awards.
  17. No exhibits are to leave the fairgrounds until the close of the fair, 4 p.m. Sunday, without permission of the President.
  18. Only one entry can be made in each exhibit Class or Section except for livestock Classes. Only one prize is awarded each exhibitor in the heard Section.
  19. In lieu of an entry fee, 10% will be deducted from prize money in Classes 1 and 4, and 15% in Class 2.
  20. Where prizes are awarded on points, first place will count 3 points, second place 2 points, and third place, 1 point. These Sections are considered championship sections and no entry fee is necessary.
  21. $5.00 membership fee must be paid by all competitors. Membership fees cannot be deducted from prize money.
  22. All certificates for special prizes must be cashed within 30 dys of the date of issue. Cheques issued by the Treasurer as prizes must be cashed by mid-December, otherwise all claim to the prize awarded shall be forfeited. Gift Certificates are to be redeemed in merchandise only.
  23. Upon discovery of a dishonest practice, either in the preparation, ownership or representation concerning any article exhibied which may have affected or may have intended to affect the decision of the judges, the board has the power to withhold any payment of any prize awarded and can prohibit any such party from exhibiting for one or more years and may also publish the names of any such person.
  24. All protests must be made in writing and must state plainly the cause of the complaint and shall be delivered to the President or Secretary before 4 p.m. of the last day of the fair. The sum of $20.00 shall be deposited with the Secretary in each case of protest. This deposit shall be forfeited if the protest is not sustained.
  25. While the Directors will take every precaution under the circumstances to ensure the safety of all the articles sent to the fair,the owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting and should any exhibit be accidentally injured, lost or stolen, the Directors will give all possible assistance in their power toward the recovery but will not make any payment for the value thereof.
  26. The right is reserved by the Board of Directors to reduce the amount of prize money or special awards paid to exhbitors below the amounts published in the various Classes and Sections of the prize list, as circumstances and conditions beyond their control may warrant and can be subject to change without prior notice.
  27. Exhibitors are responsible for acquiring their own liability insurance.
